Temperance Lectures.

Rev. W. J. Gosse, of Lansing, Mich., delivered a temperance address in our church last Saturday evening to a large and appreciative audience. His discussion of this question met with the hearty support of all who heard him.
Mr. Gosse goes down to the foundation of the work, giving the liquor traffic no quarters, not even as medicine, believing drug shops but grog-shops in disguise, leading thousands down to ruin. He is the only public advocate of temperance who takes the enemy by the horns, and advocates his overthrow by the strong right arm of the government. Such have been his views upon this subject, we understand, over twenty-five years. May the great Head of the church sustain him in the noble work which he is so ably prosecuting. And may the day come when temperance will be accepted as an important branch of Christian labor, when every disciple of Christ will practice it in all the methods of living, making the “body a meet temple for the Holy Ghost to dwell in.” This gentleman gave two discourses next day (Sunday) in different places in our city to respectable audiences.
