"A Terrifying Spectacle."

The Christian Advocate well characterizes the investigation in the New York Legislature and the crimes which have been unearthed in connection with the municipal government of Pittsburg as "a terrifying spectacle." And what makes it more terrifying is the expression which crops up in connection with these revelations, "They all do it." And the editor declares, "'They all do it' is the most poisonous phrase that human lips can utter, that human ears can hear." And that is true when it is used as an excuse for yielding to temptation.
