1 Chronicles 29:23
Then Solomon sat on the throne of the LORD as king instead of David his father, and prospered; and all Israel obeyed him. Then Solomon sat on the throne of the LORD as king instead of David his father, and prospered; and all Israel obeyed him.
Solomon succeeded David his father as king over Israel, sitting on the throne in his place. The throne on which he sat and ruled is the throne of the Lord. Israel's kingdom was a government established under God's authority and ruled by God, and Solomon's rule was established under that divine authority.
His accession was the Lord's appointment, reflecting God's choice of him to be king. Upon taking the throne he prospered, and all Israel obeyed him. His kingship and success were tied to faithfulness to God's commandments, with the promise that God would establish his kingdom if he remained constant.
