1 Kings 7:50

And the bowls, and the snuffers, and the basons, and the spoons, and the censers of pure gold; and the hinges of gold, both for the doors of the inner house, the most holy place, and for the doors of the house, to wit, of the temple.

1 Kings 1 to 11 is the history of the undivided kingdom under Solomon, relating the same events as 2 Chronicles 1 to 9 and coming in chronological order. Within that history the verse stands in the latter part of 1 Kings 7 giving details of the furnishings and vessels of the temple. It is part of the record of Solomon's building of the house of God and the wealth of his kingdom, to be especially noted along with the dedication prayer and sacrifices and the divine answer to Solomon's prayer.

It lists the bowls, snuffers, basins, spoons, and censers of pure gold, and the gold hinges for the doors of the inner house, the most holy place, and for the doors of the temple. The temple was a permanent enlargement of the tabernacle plan, with sacred vessels of the same kind increased in size and number, two holy places, and the same ministry. In its two-part design, vessels, and ministry it followed the tabernacle and serves as a pattern of the heavenly temple, which also has two holy places.

The record of its building shows that the Lord gave special wisdom to the men who built it; the power of invention is God-given and the skill displayed in the temple work came from Him. Since Solomon finished the house of Jehovah before he built his own house, he put God's house before his own, while many make self first.
