Jeremiah 26:2

Thus saith the LORD; Stand in the court of the LORD’s house, and speak unto all the cities of Judah, which come to worship in the LORD’s house, all the words that I command thee to speak unto them; diminish not a word:

The command came at the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim, placing Jeremiah in the temple courts to speak to Judah. There he was to stand in the court of the Lord's house and speak publicly to all the people from the cities of Judah who came there to worship. He was to proclaim the message openly before that gathered worshiping multitude, leaving no part of the audience unaddressed.

He was to deliver plainly and publicly every word God commanded him, without omitting or diminishing anything. Nothing was to be softened, held back, or left out, but the whole warning was to be spoken in full. The words to be given without reduction were a call to hear the words of the covenant and do them, meaning the plain precepts of God as recorded in the Scriptures, to be heard and obeyed.

The purpose was to give the people full opportunity to hear and heed the warning, repent, and turn from their evil ways. If they would listen and turn, God would relent and avert the punishment their wickedness deserved. This offer of repentance and delay of deserved punishment shows God's reluctance to chastise and His patience in holding back judgment while pleading with His erring people to return to Him.
