Psalms 9:10

And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.

The line just before pictures the Lord as a shelter and refuge for the downtrodden and oppressed in their distress and times of trouble. The same setting presents Him as the one who judges the world in righteousness. Knowing God's name leads people to place their trust in Him. The reason given is that the Lord does not forsake or abandon those who seek and trust Him.

Those who trust are not left disappointed. This assurance belongs to the time when the redeemed enter the gates and Christ reigns in Zion. Exile and hardship can become the path to safety and freedom, as shown when the Pilgrims trusted His promises in a strange land, were sustained by Him, and were led toward religious liberty. In their case persecution and exile opened the way to security and freedom.

As helper, God guides those who trust Him and orders circumstances so their work can succeed. Such trust involves a submissive heart, which the Lord blesses and makes strong.
