An'droid or An-droid'des, n.

[From Gr. ἀνήρ, ἀνδρός, man, and εἶδος, form; Gr. ἀνδρώδης, like a man.] A machine or automaton in the human form, which, by certain contrivances, as springs, weights, &c., performs some of the natural motions of a living man.
