Basinet

n. [O. Fr. bassinet, bacinet, dim. of bassin, bacin, basin, helmet in the form of a basin; Pr. basinet, bacinet, Sp. bacinejo, It. bacinetto. See BASIN.] A light helmet, generally without a visor, so called from its resemblance to a basin. [Written also basinet and basnet.]
