Cī'on, n.
n. [O. Fr. cion, N. Fr. scion, for sicion, from Lat. sectio, a cutting, from secare, to cut. Cf. Fr. scier, to saw, from Lat. secare, to cut.] A young shoot, twig, or sprout of a tree or plant; the cutting of a twig for ingrafting on another stock. [Written also scion.]
The cion overruleth the stock; and the stock is but passive, and giveth aliment, but no motion, to the graft. Bacon.
