Clink'er, n.

noun

n. [From clink, v. t., Ger. & D. klinker, Dan. klinke, a brick burned so hard that it makes a sharp and sonorous sound. Cf. CLINK-STONE.]

  1. A mass composed of several bricks united together by the action of the heat in the kiln. Brande.
  2. Vitrified matter formed in furnaces where anthracite coal is used; scoria, or refuse of a furnace; vitrified or burnt matter ejected from a volcano.
  3. The scale of oxide formed in forging iron.
