Clŏt1, n.
n. [See CLOD.] A concretion, especially of a soft, slimy character; a coagulation. “Clots of ropy gore.” Addison.
☞ Clod and clot appear to be radically the same word, and are so used by early writers, as Holland and B. Jonson; but in present use clod is applied to a mass of earth and kindred uses, and clot to a concretion of soft matter.
