Cōl'o-phon, n.

n. [Lat. colophon, Gr. κολοφών, summit, top, the finishing stroke.] An inscription on the last page of a book, used before title-pages were introduced, and in some cases afterward, containing the place or year, or both, of its publication, the printer’s name, &c.
