Synonyms—Corporal; bodily. — CORPOREAL, BODILY, CORPORAL. Bodily is opposed to mental; as, bodily affections. Corporeal refers to the interior animal structure; as, corporeal substance or frame. Corporal, as now used, refers more to the exterior: as, corporal punishment. To speak of corporeal punishment is now a gross error. Bodily austerities; the corporeal sense; corporal inflictions.
