Crān'bēr-ry, n.

n. [From crane, because its slender stalk has been compared to the long legs and neck of a crane; Ger. kran-beere, kronsbeere.] (Bot.) A red, sour berry, much used for making sauce, &c.; the fruit of two species of Oxycoccus. The cranberry of the United States is the O. macrocarpus, that of Europe is O. palustris.
