Cūbe1, n.
n. [Fr. cube, It., Sp., & Pg. cubo, Lat. cubus, Gr. κῦβος, a cube, a cubical die.]
Sense 1. (Geom.) A regular solid body, with six equal square sides.
Sense 2. (Arith.) The product of a number multiplied twice into itself; as, 4 × 4 = 16, and 16 × 4 = 64, the cube of 4.
Cube root (Arith.), the number or quantity which, multiplied into itself, and then into the product, produces a certain cube; thus, 3 is the cube root of 27, for 3 × 3 = 9, and 3 × 9 = 27.
