a kind of jury allowed by the laws of England to foreigners indicted for felony or misdemeanor; also to scholars and privileged persons, belonging to Oxford University, on trial for crime: the jury in the former case consisting half of natives and half of foreigners, and in the latter, half of freeholders and half of matriculated persons.
