Ĕm’ber-gōose, n.

n. [Norw. embergaas, hav-imber, hav-immer, Ger. imber, D. embervogel, Icel. himbrime.] (Ornith.) A web-footed bird of the genus Colymbus (C. glacialis);—called also the great northern diver, or loon. It is found about Iceland, the Orkneys, and arctic America.
