Ĕr'y-thrō'ni-ŭm, n. [Gr. ἐρυθρός; red.]

1. (Bot.) A genus of plants, including the dog's-tooth violet;— so called from the red flowers and leaves of some species.
2. The metal vanadium;— so called from the red color of certain of its acids.
