Glue

Glūe, n.

noun

(glū), n. [Fr. glu, Pr. glut, from Lat. glus, glutis, i. e., gluten; gluĕre, to draw together.] A hard, brittle, brownish gelatine, obtained by boiling to a jelly the skins, hoofs, &c., of animals. When gently heated with water, it becomes viscid and tenacious, and is used as a cement for uniting substances. The name is also given to other adhesive substances.
