n. [Fr. longipalpe, from Lat. longus, long, and N. Lat. palpus; Fr. palpe, a feeler, from Lat. palpare, Fr. palper, to touch softly, to feel.] (Entom.) One of a tribe of insects or beetles;—so called from their having long maxillary feelers.
