Me, pron.
pron. pers. [A-S. me, mec, Goth. mik, O. H. Ger. mih, N. H. Ger. mich, D. mij, Icel. mik, Dan. & Sw. mig, allied to Lat. me, Gr. μέ, ἐμέ, Skr. mā, mām.] Myself; the person speaking;— objective case of I, the pronoun of the first person. It is sometimes used expletively, especially in ludicrous language, as in the phrase “I followed me close.” Before think, as in methinks, me is properly in the dative case, and the verb is impersonal, the construction being, it appears to me.
