n. [Lat. medica, Gr. μηδική (sc. πόα, a kind of clover introduced from Media), from Μηδικός, Median.] (Bot.) A leguminous plant of the genus Medicago. The black medic is the M. lupulina; the purple medic, or lucern, is M. sativa.
