Ōc'ta-teūch, n.
(ŏk'ta-tūk), n. [Gr. ὀκτάτευχος, from ὀκτώ, eight, and τεῦχος, tool, book, fr. τεύχειν, to prepare, make ready; Lat. octateuchus, Fr. octateuque, Sp. octateuco, It. ottateuco.] A collection of eight books; especially, the first eight books of the Old Testament. [Rare.] Hammer.
☞ The latter application of the word is improper, there being no alliance in the first eight books more than in the first ten or fifteen books.
