Pel·lū'cid, a.
a. [Lat. pellucidus, from per, very, and lucidus, clear, bright; Fr. pellucide, It. pellucido, Sp. pelucido.] Admitting the passage of light; translucent; not opaque; clear.
A pellucid is distinguished from a transparent body in not giving distinct vision of illuminated objects seen through it. But in our older writers, pellucid is used in the sense of transparent.
