Pinch'ers, n. pl.

nounplural

Pinch'ers, n. pl. [From pinch.] An instrument for various uses, as drawing nails and the like, griping things to be held fast, &c.

☞ This spelling is much to be preferred to pincers, both on account of its derivation from the English pinch, and because it truly represents the common pronunciation of the word.

Two types of pincers are illustrated: carpenter's pincers and shoemaker's pincers.
1, carpenter's pinch-ers; 2, shoemaker's pinchers.
