1Sense 1. A small writing, certificate, or schedule; a piece of paper containing a writing.

Bills of exchange can not pay our debts abroad, till scrips of paper can be made current coin. Locke.

2Sense 2. A certificate of stock subscribed to a bank or other company, or of a share of other joint property; one of the forms of certificate given in exchange for a loan, as consol scrip, reduced scrip, which may be sold separately, as such, until all the installments of the loan are paid, after which the term is no longer applied to it.
