Shit'tah or Shit'tim, n.

n. [Heb. shit-tah, pl. shittim, acacia, Linn.] A sort of precious wood, of which the tables, altars, and boards of the tabernacle were made among the Jews. It is supposed to have been the wood of a species of Acacia, which is hard, tough, and smooth, and very beautiful.
