Squab'ble1, v. i.
(skwŏb'bl), v. i. [imp. & p. p. SQUAB-BLED; p. pr. & vb. n. SQUABBLING.] [Allied to L. Ger. kabbeln, Sw. käbbla, to quarrel.]
- To contend for superiority; to scuffle; to struggle; to wrangle; to quarrel.
- To debate peevishly; to dispute.
The sense of these propositions is very plain, though logicians might squabble a whole day whether they should rank themselves under negative or affirmative. Watts. Syn.—To dispute; contend; scuffle; wrangle; quarrel; struggle.
