Stēam'-trăp, n.
n. A contrivance to allow the passage of water, and prevent the passage of steam.
☞ When steam and water enter at the top of the vessel shown, the bottom of the float closes the lower aperture, and prevents the escape of steam. As the water rises, it lifts the float, and escapes.
