v. t. [imp. & p. p. SUPPED (supt); p. pr. & vb. n. SUPPING.] [A-S. sūpan, to sip, drink, Teut. & Sw. supa, Dan. söbe, L. Ger. supen, D. zuipen, H. Ger. saufen. See SIP.] To take into the mouth with the lips, as a liquid; to take or drink by a little at a time; to sip.
