Sŷn'i-zē'sis, n.

n. [Lat., Gr. συνίζησις, from συνίζειν, to sit with or together, from σύν, with, and ἵζειν, to sit, sit down, to seat.]

1. (Med.) An obliteration of the pupil of the eye; a closed pupil. Brande.
2. (Gram.) A contraction of two syllables into one; synecphonesis.
