a. [Fr. tarsal.] (Anat.) (a.) Pertaining to the tarsus, or ankle. (b.) Of, or pertaining to, the tarsi of the eyelids.

Tarsal cartilages, two thin elastic plates in the edge of the eyelids, of a fibrous tissue, and containing the meibomian glands, which secrete a sebaceous humor.
