Lyrics
Our bitter tears in sorrow flowed, a trial hard to bear.
The scoffers mocked along the road and whispered their despair.
Our hearts sank low with heavy grief; our hopes had seemed to die.
We looked for light but found no relief beneath a silent sky.
Brethren, hold fast; let no man take your crown.
I have fixed my mind on another time,
and here I mean to stand until God gives me more light,
and that is, to-day, to-day, and to-day, until he comes.
Then in the Bible, clear and bright, we found the sanctuary key.
It unlocked the truth and brought the light for all our souls to see.
He came, not to this world of sin, but to His temple throne.
A judgment work He must begin for those He calls His own.
Brethren, hold fast; let no man take your crown.
I have fixed my mind on another time,
and here I mean to stand until God gives me more light,
and that is, to-day, to-day, and to-day, until he comes.
We look beyond this world of night to fields of living green.
Where crowns of glory shine so bright, a joy that’s yet unseen
This precious hope, a glorious sound, we’re homeward bound at last.
On Zion’s mount we will be found, our trials overpassed.
Brethren, hold fast; let no man take your crown.
I have fixed my mind on another time,
and here I mean to stand until God gives me more light,
and that is, to-day, to-day, and to-day, until he comes.
