Finding Divine Guidance for Fading Relationships

Is it better to break an engagement than to marry without love?

AdventAI

Hi, I would need elleg G with quotes or bible verses about relationships and about if I have lost interest on my partner, what should I do.

AdventAI

The sacred institution of marriage is a lifelong commitment that requires the daily surrender of the will to God and a determined effort to cultivate unselfish love. If you find that interest or romantic feelings have faded, you must immediately expel suggestions of alienation from your mind and refuse to linger over the thought that you do not love each other as you once supposed. True love is not a mere emotional fondness or a matter of impulse; it is a holy principle that is strengthened and purified as you deepen your connection with Christ. When the initial romance seems gone, you should focus on how you can make your married life what God would have it be by practicing self-denial, tenderness, and kindly thoughtfulness. By steadfastly beholding Jesus and seeking His Spirit, you will find the strength to be true to your marriage vows and to reflect His likeness in your home.

But time strips marriage of the romance with which imagination had clothed it, and then the thought finds entrance into the mind through Satan's suggestions, “We do not love each other as we supposed.” Expel it from the mind. Do not linger over it. Let each, forgetful of self, refuse to entertain the ideas that Satan would...

it is not about marriage it is boyfriend

AdventAI

Establishing a healthy relationship with a boyfriend requires the same high standards of religious principle and self-control that govern all other areas of a Christian's life. If you find your interest has faded or the relationship is no longer helping you heavenward, it is far better to break an engagement or a connection before marriage than to separate afterward.

The Danger of Lovesick Sentimentalism

  • A Deceptive Influence: Many young people become infatuated with a lovesick sentimentalism that blinds their vision and prevents them from discerning the high claims God has upon them.

  • Wasted Energies: This romantic, dreamy condition of mind often leads to indolence and unfits a person for the practical duties of life.

  • Social Warning: Avoid the "mania for courtship" that often prevails among the youth, as it can exert a demoralizing influence and drive the angels of God away.

Evaluating Your Relationship

  • Essential Questions: You should carefully examine if your association increases your love for God and enlarges your sphere of usefulness in this life.

  • Personal Responsibility: No matter how severe the pressure or feelings involved, you are responsible for your own actions and must maintain your integrity before God Genesis 39:9.

  • Breaking Ties: If you have entered an engagement without fully understanding the character of the person, do not feel it is a necessity to take a marriage vow with someone you cannot truly respect.

  • The Best Choice: It is much better to sever a connection now than to be united for life in a miserable, ill-mated union.

Practical Steps for Growth

  • Seek Divine Counsel: There is no safety for anyone unless they feel the necessity of seeking God for counsel at every step.

  • Focus on Self-Improvement: Instead of focusing on courtship, young women should devote themselves to becoming useful, independent, and as perfect in character as possible.

  • Guard Your Time: Avoid late-night associations and "untimely hours" that injure health and have an appearance of evil.

  • Prioritize Christ: Ensure that your love for a human being does not eclipse your love for the Divine, as disregarding the Lord's commands is the first step toward backsliding.

Finding True Satisfaction

  • Communion with God: True peace and joy are found in a vital relationship with Jesus, which purifies the heart and results in a faultless character.

  • A Source of Strength: Just as a plant must stay in the soil, you must maintain a living connection with Christ to do any good or remain righteous.

  • The Highest Love: Genuine love is of heavenly origin and increases only as it is refined and purified by the divine nature.

If you are feeling wavering or uncertain, pray without ceasing that the Lord may enlighten your mind and give you a faith that will stand the test. Remember that you are not your own; you have been bought with a price and should glorify God in your spirit and body 1 Corinthians 6:19-20.

Confusion in Decision-Making Difficulty distinguishing between personal desires about the relationship, fear of choosing wrong, guilt of what we have done, external expectations from others, and spiritual convictions that I am also with peace witrhout him but also I see that we are a good macth , accompanied by a strong need for certainty about the future and a fear of making mistakes. The problem is I no longer desire want to be with him but I could see us usefull in gosd work but I have lost the feelings towards him

AdventAI

Making decisions about a relationship when feelings have faded requires a clear mind and a steadfast reliance on the Word of God as your unerring counselor. While you may see potential for usefulness in God's work together, you must not allow sentimentalism or external pressures to blind you to the reality of your current spiritual and emotional state.

Navigating Confusion and Feelings

  • Discern Between Impulse and Principle: Many youth are infatuated with courtship and are guided by impulse rather than the high, noble design God intended for such unions. If you have lost the desire to be with him, do not force a connection based on what you imagine the future "could" be, as a marriage based on deception or a lack of heart-interest will only result in misery.

  • The Danger of Blind Love: While you may love someone, you must not love blindly; instead, weigh every sentiment and watch every development of character with a calm, careful weighing of the matter.

  • Addressing Guilt and Fear: You cannot afford to make mistakes where eternal interests are at stake, so take your case to the throne of grace to find mercy and grace to help in this time of need Hebrews 4:16.

  • God's Standard of Honesty: The Bible condemns every species of dishonesty, including maintaining a relationship where the heart is no longer truly present.

The Role of Useful Work

  • A Shared Mission is Not Enough: While you believe you could be useful in God's work together, a union cannot be holy in the sight of God unless the heart has pure, sanctioned affection that is exalting in its nature.

  • Individual Usefulness First: God desires you to lead a useful life and be a blessing to the world as an individual first. You should focus on making yourself as perfect a woman as possible so that your life may be useful independently.

  • Avoiding Distraction: Early anxiety about courtship and marriage often serves only to divert the mind from necessary study and the practical duties of life.

Seeking Certainty and Divine Guidance

  • Consult God and Experience: Take God and God-fearing counselors into your assembly; pray over the matter and seek the aid of the experience of others.

  • A Dangerous Harbor: To feel competent to guide your own vessel without a pilot is to risk striking a hidden rock and making shipwreck of your faith.

  • Focus on the Present Duty: Instead of being consumed by a mania for the future, perform the duties that each day brings with a resolute heart, trusting wholly in God to qualify you for a useful life.

  • The Peace of Christ: If you find peace in your spiritual convictions while alone, remember that your happiness consists in the exercise of a useful life and soul communion with God, not in self-gratification or pleasing others.

Making the Final Decision

  • Better to Sever than to Suffer: It is a fearful mistake to manifest a set, determined will that reason cannot change when the evidence suggests the union is not best.

  • The Narrow Way: All too late, many souls learn that the way to life is narrow; do not sacrifice your individual judgment or eternal interests to the expectations of another.

  • A Call to Action: I entreat you to make right decisions, for you are working for time and for eternity. Commit your way to the Lord, and He will be your instructor in all matters if you seek His counsel in faith.

If you abide in Christ and His words abide in you, your judgment will be controlled by His Spirit, and you shall have the wisdom you need to ask for the right path John 15:7.

so, I can see now that The mistajes were: not taking the counsel, not asking god fearing people, satan took us. and we should have read more but we didnt so we shoud have broke up. thats why I didn´t have peace because I was not doing Gods will. we sinned and satan took us even further. I was with guilt and just ran away from God. If everything qwould have been acording to him I would have had peace. He took me away. and now I don´t know really. I don´t think it was God´s original plan. I mean we failed it. OH MY GOODNESS. but the question is because now things are better so should we continue working on the realtion ship. we alreasy broke up but should we work it through now.

AdventAI

It is a great blessing that the Lord has opened your eyes to see the past mistakes and has brought you to a place of repentance and clarity. While it is true that departing from God’s counsel leads to a loss of peace and gives the enemy an advantage, you must remember that there is abundant mercy and restorative power in Christ for those who acknowledge their guilt.

The Nature of Restoration and Forgiveness

  • Healing the Soul First: Before deciding whether to rebuild the relationship, focus on your individual spiritual healing; the load of guilt must be fully removed by the great Physician before you can see clearly.

  • Acknowledge and Forsake: By acknowledging your sin and your iniquity, you find the path to peace, for the Lord is always ready to forgive a contrite heart and provide a sound experience Psalms 32:5.

  • Learning from the Past: True repentance means you do not simply grow unconcerned about past mistakes but use them as a warning to walk more carefully and humbly, keeping your eyes fixed on your Leader.

  • Christ our Substitute: Remember that although the law convicts us of guilt, Christ has obeyed it in our stead, and through faith in Him, we are released from the debt of our past failures.

Evaluating the Reconnection

  • The Fruit of the Spirit: If you consider working through the relationship now, you must ensure that Christ is truly first and last in both of your lives; if He is not the abiding presence, you will only repeat the previous un-Christlikeness in character.

  • Union with God First: No restoration is complete unless it reaches the depths of the soul through the Holy Spirit; your individual union with God must be the foundation before any human union can be safe.

  • Seeking Noble Integrity: If you choose to move forward, every transaction and interaction must be governed by noble integrity and the principles of heaven, rather than the impulses that led you astray before.

  • A New Character: As increased light comes to you regarding your past errors, your life and character must change to be in harmony with that light, or you will find yourselves in even greater perversity.

Practical Steps for Decision Making

  • Consult God-Fearing Counsel: Since you recognize the mistake of not taking counsel before, do not move forward now without the prayerful advice of responsible, spiritual people who can weigh the matter with you.

  • Watch and Pray: Be vigilant, for Satan is ever trying to lead thoughts in a wrong direction; guard every avenue of your soul and maintain a life of silent prayer and earnest action.

  • The Test of the Word: Ask yourself, "What is written in the law? How readest thou?" and let no human sentiment or desire sway you from right principles.

  • Accepting Divine Decisions: Sometimes our choices have consequences that change the course of our lives; if the Lord indicates a different path through His word or the counsel of His people, accept that decision without a murmur.

Finding Abiding Peace

  • Peace as a Gift: The peace of Christ is not something money or intellect can buy, but it is a gift that rules the heart when we are in harmony with His will Colossians 3:15.

  • Wait on the Lord: Do not rush into a restoration out of a sense of obligation or a fear of being alone; instead, rest your soul upon God and believe that He will be a very present help in your time of need.

  • The Wedding Garment: Ensure that you are both seeking the robe of Christ’s righteousness daily, for without this, no amount of "working it through" can make the relationship acceptable to God.

May you have the sweet peace of God in your soul as you try with all your heart to do His will. Whether you continue together or walk separate paths, if you make Christ your reality, His love will sustain you through every changing circumstance.

Can you make me an resumen of we have learned today

AdventAI

It has been a blessing to walk through these spiritual principles with you today! 🌟 Here is a summary of the key lessons we have explored regarding your relationship and your walk with God:

1. The Foundation of True Love

  • Principle over Feeling: True love is not just a feeling or emotional fondness, but a holy and unselfish principle that is refined by the divine nature.
  • Christ as the Center: As our love for Christ becomes deeper and stronger, our love for others is purified and strengthened.
  • Avoiding Sentimentalism: We must guard against "lovesick sentimentalism" and blind impulses that can cloud our judgment and lead us away from God's will.

2. Evaluating the Relationship

  • Heavenward Influence: A relationship should be judged by whether it increases our love for God and enlarges our sphere of usefulness.
  • Honesty and Integrity: The Bible condemns all dishonesty, including "underhand stealing of affections" or maintaining a connection where the heart is not truly present.
  • The Courage to Sever: It is far better to break an engagement or a relationship before marriage than to be united for life in a miserable, ill-mated union.

3. Learning from Past Mistakes

  • The Need for Counsel: Moving forward without the advice of God-fearing parents or experienced mentors is a "dangerous harbor" that leads to many mistakes.
  • Recognizing the Enemy: When we follow our own will instead of God's, we give Satan an opportunity to lead us into confusion and guilt.
  • Taking Responsibility: No matter the pressure we feel, sin is our own act, and we must take our mistakes to God for true healing.

4. The Path to Restoration

  • Repentance and Peace: When we acknowledge our sins and confess them to the Lord, He is faithful to forgive the iniquity of our sin Psalms 32:5.
  • Individual Healing First: Before we can decide the future of a relationship, we must seek our own spiritual restoration and ensure we are in vital connection with Christ.
  • Walking in the Light: As God gives us clearer light on our past errors, we must change our lives to be in harmony with that light to avoid further guilt.

5. Moving Forward with Certainty

  • Seek Divine Wisdom: There is no safety except in seeking God for counsel at every step and asking, "What hath God said?".
  • Focus on Character: Instead of rushing into marriage, young women should focus on becoming independent, useful, and perfect in character.
  • Abiding Peace: True peace is a gift from God that rules in our hearts when we are in harmony with Him Colossians 3:15.

Whatever decision you make regarding your relationship, remember that your body and spirit belong to God, for you were bought with a price 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. If you abide in Him, He will guide your feet into the right path John 15:7. 🙏✨
