How do I know my spiritual gifts?

AdventAI

You can know your spiritual gifts by diligently searching the Word of God, engaging in earnest prayer for the illumination of the Holy Spirit, and actively performing the work that currently presents itself before you. Understanding your specific calling is a process of growth that requires a humble surrender of self and a willingness to be taught by the divine Master.

Steps to Discern Your Spiritual Gifts 💡

  • Search the Scriptures: God does not usually teach His people through special manifestations until they have first faithfully searched His written Word, which is the perfect rule of faith and practice. The Bible is the touchstone by which all spiritual manifestations must be tried.

  • Pray for Spiritual Discernment: Spiritual things are only spiritually discerned, and you must pray for divine grace and the heavenly anointing to see beyond the surface 1 Corinthians 2:14. Without the aid of the Holy Spirit, the human mind cannot grasp the deep things of God or recognize the talents entrusted to it.

  • Engage in Service: Do not wait for a "great opportunity" to appear; instead, take up the work that lies directly before you with a willing heart. It is by using the abilities you already have for the Master that you obtain new experiences and a growth in grace.

  • Examine Your Fruits: The genuine nature of a gift is known by its results; as the Savior taught, you shall know them by their fruits. If your efforts lead to the edifying of the church and the conversion of souls, it is an evidence of the Spirit's working.

  • Maintain Personal Humility: Heaven chooses workers who take a lowly place before God, as the most childlike disciple is often the most efficient in labor. Self-exaltation and pride becloud the perceptive powers and prevent you from recognizing your true responsibilities.

The Purpose of Your Gifts 🎯

Every person is given work according to their several ability, and no gift is too small to be used for the glory of God. These talents are distributed as the Lord sees necessary for the perfecting of the saints and the edifying of the body of Christ Ephesians 4:11-12. Whether your gift is one of teaching, exhortation, ministry, or showing mercy, it should be exercised with diligence and cheerfulness Romans 12:6-8.

A Solemn Responsibility ⚖️

The mere possession of generous impulses or natural qualities increases your responsibility; if these talents remain hoarded or unimproved, they are of no benefit to the soul. You are a steward of God’s grace, and you will eventually be held accountable for the capital entrusted to you. Therefore, unfold your napkin, trade with your Lord's goods, and you will find that in service, your gifts will multiply.
