1 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;
2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;
3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;
4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;
5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.
6 For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.
7 He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.
8 He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.
9 Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.
10 When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;
11 Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:
12 To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things;
13 Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;
14 Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked;
15 Whose ways are crooked, and they froward in their paths:
16 To deliver thee from the strange woman, even from the stranger which flattereth with her words;
17 Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her God.
18 For her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the dead.
19 None that go unto her return again, neither take they hold of the paths of life.
20 That thou mayest walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous.
21 For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it.
22 But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it.

Proverbs 2 teaches that true wisdom is a divine gift found through the diligent search for God, which ultimately provides moral protection and spiritual understanding for the journey of life. This chapter serves as a guide for those who wish to transition from earthly ignorance to the heights of intellectual and spiritual attainment.
The Diligent Search for Truth 🔍
True knowledge is not found by surface-seekers but requires a heart that is willing to search for it as one searches for hidden treasures.
We must cry after knowledge and lift up our voices for understanding if we hope to find the knowledge of God Proverbs 2:3-5.
This search is not a passive one; it requires a persevering labor and a willingness to deny self in order to be filled with the knowledge of His will.
By studying the Word of God with an honest and humble mind, even those who lack worldly educational advantages can obtain wisdom that is recognized by the world.
God as the Source of Wisdom 🕊️
The Lord is the sole fountain of wisdom, and from His mouth proceeds all knowledge and understanding that is of value to humanity Proverbs 2:6.
In Jesus Christ are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge, meaning there is no true wisdom found outside of Him Colossians 2:3.
Divine knowledge proceeds from the Holy Spirit, who understands exactly what humanity needs to promote peace and happiness in this world and secure rest in the next.
Wisdom is not something we can work out for ourselves; it is a constant gift from God that comes to us like a flowing stream.
Protection and Moral Guidance 🛡️
When wisdom enters the heart, it acts as a safeguard, protecting the soul from the path of the wicked and from those who leave the paths of uprightness Proverbs 2:10-13.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of this wisdom, and it leads a person to hate evil and depart from it Proverbs 1:7.
True wisdom and knowledge spring from righteousness, for a good understanding belongs to all those who do His commandments Psalms 111:10.
Those who are led by the Spirit of wisdom will not judge by the sight of their eyes or the hearing of their ears, but will possess a quickened perception to discern the workings of the enemy Isaiah 11:2-3.
The Reward of the Upright ✨
The Lord lays up sound wisdom for the righteous and is a buckler to those who walk uprightly Proverbs 2:7.
Those who seek the Lord will understand righteousness, judgment, and equity, finding every good path Proverbs 2:9.
The treasures of the universe will eventually be open to the study of the redeemed, allowing them to share in the wisdom of unfallen beings throughout eternity.
By making Christ our counselor and studying His word, we are saved from heartaches and guided in the way of holiness.
