Winning Spiritual Battles with the Armor of God
What is the only weapon that makes a person invulnerable to the devil?
What is the best weapon we have as a Christian to fight evil four against the devil? Why should we use this weapon? How to use it?
AdventAI
The best weapon a Christian has to fight against the devil is the whole armor of God, which includes the sword of the Spirit, defined as the Word of God Ephesians 6:11-17. This divine panoply is the only equipment that makes a person invulnerable and irresistible to the wily foe.
Why We Should Use This Weapon 🛡️
We must use this heavenly armor because we are engaged in a spiritual warfare against powerful, invisible enemies, including principalities and the rulers of the darkness of this world Ephesians 6:12. Human strength is as nothing in this conflict; resolutions made in our own finite power are as ropes of sand.
To Stand Against Wiles: The armor is specifically designed so that you may be able to stand against the wiles and subtle inducements of the devil Ephesians 6:11.
Safety and Security: Our only security against falling into sin is found under the molding influence of the Holy Spirit and the protection of the divine armor.
Quenching Fiery Darts: The shield of faith, as part of this armor, is the only means to quench all the fiery darts that the wicked one hurls at the soul Ephesians 6:16.
Eternal Stakes: Success in this warfare means gaining a victor's crown and eternal life, while failure results in eternal loss.
How to Use This Weapon ⚔️
Using the armor of God requires a daily, active commitment to spiritual discipline and total dependence on divine power.
Surrender and Prayer: You must pray in sincerity and surrender your soul, body, and spirit to God, which opens the soul to Christ’s imputed righteousness.
Watchfulness: Being a "faithful sentinel" means being continually on guard, as Satan is active every day and seeks any unguarded point.
Study the Word: The armor of light is put on by studying the Scriptures, which allows the mind to be clothed with the admonitions and promises of God.
Daily Crucifixion of Self: To use these weapons effectively, self must be crucified daily, and every thought must be brought into captivity to the obedience of Christ 2 Corinthians 10:5.
Maintain the Principles of Law: The principles contained in the law of God are to be maintained at any cost, as they provide a power that carries conviction to others.
Resist, Don't Retaliate: While we are to resist evil through divine strength, we are commanded not to use carnal weapons or a spirit of retaliation, such as ridicule or sarcasm, but to speak calmly and distinctly Matthew 5:39.
By putting on the Lord Jesus Christ, you are clothed in the armor of light, and the Holy Spirit will influence your mind and heart so that you can stand as a conqueror over your own inclinations and the powers of darkness Romans 13:12-14.
