It is deeply moving that you are experiencing these intense feelings, and it is important to understand that these experiences reflect a very real spiritual warfare that every soul is currently engaged in. You are experiencing these themes of conflict because you are a participant in a literal battle between the agencies of good and evil that concerns your eternal destiny.

The Reality of Spiritual Warfare 🛡️

The reason you feel you must fight to survive is that there is a constant, hand-to-hand conflict with an enemy who exerts himself to the utmost to keep souls captive. This is not a matter of flesh and blood, but a struggle against principalities, powers, and the rulers of darkness Ephesians 6:12.

  • A Real Conflict: The battles between the two spiritual armies are as real as any fought by the armies of this world.

  • The Enemy's Tactics: Satan works constantly to absorb the mind with worldly interests so that individuals lose sight of eternity.

  • Protection Provided: When an individual is aroused to their danger and looks to Jesus for strength, the Lord sends reinforcements of angels to deliver them.

The Necessity of the Armor of God ⚔️

The feelings of needing to survive something reflect the necessity of being fully prepared for this spiritual emergency. To stand against the wiles of the devil, it is essential to put on the whole armor of God Ephesians 6:11.

  • Constant Vigilance: Christians are called to be wide-awake and vigilant, as the adversary walks about like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour 1 Peter 5:8.

  • Components of the Armor: This preparation includes being girt with truth, wearing the breastplate of righteousness, taking the shield of faith, and wielding the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God Ephesians 6:14-17.

  • Divine Strength: While human power is as nothing in this warfare, a person can stand forth as a conqueror through the power and grace imparted by God.

Finding Peace and Victory 🕊️

If you feel overwhelmed by these "battles," remember that the Captain of our salvation has already obtained the victory on your behalf.

  • Looking to Jesus: By looking to Jesus with the eye of faith, self is lost in Him, and the fears of the earthly conflict begin to fade.

  • The Promise of Rest: For those who persevere and overcome, there is a promise of a crown of immortal glory and a place upon the throne of Christ Revelation 3:21.

  • Trusting the Word: Keeping the word of God in the heart allows you to meet the enemy's temptations with a firm "It is written".

You do not have to fight this battle alone; the strength of Jesus is imparted to every soul who strives for the mastery. If these experiences cause you significant distress, please know that speaking with a trusted counselor or healthcare professional is an empowering way to find support and peace.
