Spiritual Warfare: Facing Demonic Activity Through Christ
How can we distinguish true spiritual power from religious fanaticism?
Does our church mention dealing with demonic activity
AdventAI
Yes, our church recognizes the reality of demonic activity and emphasizes the need to resist these satanic influences through the power of Christ. 🛡️ While historical Jewish practices often relied on magical amulets, incantations, and specific formulas to ward off evil spirits, true spiritual victory is found only through divine grace.
The Reality of Spiritual Warfare
The Conflict: We are engaged in a constant struggle against principalities, powers, and the rulers of the darkness of this world Ephesians 6:12.
Satanic Influence: Evil spirits work to deceive humanity, sometimes masquerading as the Spirit of God to lead people into fanaticism and error 2 Corinthians 11:14.
Targeting Minds: Satan and his angels watch for every opportunity to steal an entrance into our lives, specifically targeting the outposts of our thoughts and the institutions established for God's work.
Christ’s Example and Authority
Jesus began His ministry by confronting satanic opposition and demonstrating His power to heal those oppressed by the devil Acts 10:38. During His time on earth, He imparted His life and healing virtue to those possessed by demons, turning none away. His authority was so absolute that even the most defiant spirits were compelled to obey His command Mark 1:27. This power was conferred upon His apostles and the seventy disciples, who successfully cast out devils in His name Matthew 10:8Luke 10:17-19.
Dealing with Fanaticism
It is vital to distinguish between true spiritual power and fanaticism. The practice of publicly declaring individuals possessed and pretending to cast out spirits can often be a form of deception that brings the church into disrepute. We are warned against those who deal in a "human or satanic influence" while calling it the Spirit of God. Instead of harshness or performative exorcism, we are called to lead the erring with gentleness, kindness, and the tender spirit of Christ.
Protection and Victory
Resisting Influence: We must refuse to have fellowship with darkness and, in the name of the Lord, resist its spirit.
Right Thinking: Moral purity depends on bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ 2 Corinthians 10:5.
The Armor of God: To stand against the devices of the enemy, we must put on the whole armor of God, including the shield of faith and the sword of the Spirit Ephesians 6:13-17.
Divine Aid: When a soul is in danger and looks to Jesus for strength, He sends reinforcements of angels who excel in strength to deliver them.
By bringing our wills into harmony with the will of God and forsaking wrong practices, we can become overcomers in this great controversy. 🙏✨
