1 Chronicles 12:2
They were armed with bows, and could use both the right hand and the left in hurling stones and shooting arrows out of a bow, even of Saul’s brethren of Benjamin. They were armed with bows, and could use both the right hand and the left in hurling stones and shooting arrows out of a bow, even of Saul’s brethren of Benjamin.
The verse is part of a parallel account of the events surrounding David's rise to the throne of all Israel. More specifically, it belongs to the fuller account of the tribes assembling at Hebron to acknowledge David as king. It describes David's supporters from the tribes who gathered to him as armed, skilled, mighty, loyal warriors able to use either the right or the left hand to hurl stones and shoot arrows out of a bow. The fighting men sent by the tribes in that assembly numbered about 350,000 altogether, and the assembly lasted three days. Their skill and readiness for conflict show that God's workers should energetically use every suitable means in the struggle for truth and in personal work to save souls.
