1 Chronicles 2:20

And Hur begat Uri, and Uri begat Bezaleel.

This is part of a genealogy showing a recorded line of descent, one of the hereditary lineage records in the sons of Judah list. Specifically it records the descent from Hur to Uri and from Uri to Bezaleel, with Hur fathering Uri and Uri fathering Bezaleel. Such lineage records in Chronicles served as proof of descent for the returned exiles and their families. It belongs to the carefully preserved genealogy of Judah, the tribe through which Christ came.

As a recorded line of descent, such genealogies show that God is particular and that a faithful record of each soul is kept in heaven. The men named there are obscure people whom no one now knows anything about, who lived their lives and passed away thousands of years ago and were long forgotten by people, yet God remembers every one of them by name and has forgotten none of them, whether prosperous or failures.

Because God does not change and is not the changing kind, He still keeps each unknown person's name put away safe and sure in His lists today, which gives comfort when downhearted and discouraged.
