1 Chronicles 5:13
And their brethren of the house of their fathers were, Michael, and Meshullam, and Sheba, and Jorai, and Jachan, and Zia, and Heber, seven. And their brethren of the house of their fathers were, Michael, and Meshullam, and Sheba, and Jorai, and Jachan, and Zia, and Heber, seven.
The verse stands within the extended lists of names filling page after page through the first eight chapters of 1 Chronicles, recording seven brethren of the house of their fathers by name. Such genealogical passages are seldom read in family worship or private devotion, and their value is hard to see. Yet the verse is fully inspired as part of the whole Bible, though not equally interesting and valuable to all persons and under all circumstances.
God placed such deep genealogical material in the Bible for all classes and not for one class only, to interest scholars while the illiterate finds manna elsewhere. In it He recorded the origin and distribution of races for those who would study ethnology. Along the way by which He leads such students as scientists, He scattered pearls of spiritual truth, so that many seeking only human knowledge find that which is divine. The careful keeping of such genealogical records illustrates that God keeps a faithful record of each soul.
