Israelite Captain Cries to God in Battleby emmanuel_higgins

1 Chronicles 5:19

And they made war with the Hagarites, with Jetur, and Nephish, and Nodab.

This text is fully inspired Scripture even though it stands among the long lists of names in the first eight chapters of 1 Chronicles. Many pass over those chapters without reading them in family worship or in private devotions. Many cannot understand them and cannot see the value of them. That neglect does not lessen their inspiration, for the inspiration of the whole Bible does not mean that every verse is equally interesting and valuable to all persons under all circumstances.

This verse holds deep material meant to interest scholars, while the most illiterate finds manna elsewhere. In this way the Bible proves itself to be not for one class only but for all classes. God recorded here the origin and distribution of races for men who would study ethnology. Along their way as scientists He scattered pearls of spiritual truth by which He leads them, so that many who seek only human knowledge find that which is divine.
