Jeroboam's Wife Comes to the Blind Prophet Ahijahby emmanuel_higgins

1 Kings 14:5

And the LORD said unto Ahijah, Behold, the wife of Jeroboam cometh to ask a thing of thee for her son; for he is sick: thus and thus shalt thou say unto her: for it shall be, when she cometh in, that she shall feign herself to be another woman.

Ahijah lived at Shiloh, and it was to him there that the wife of Jeroboam came in disguise. The verse belongs to the history of Israel and Judah covering the roughly eighty years from the revolt of the ten tribes to the death of Jehoshaphat, a period embracing the reigns of several kings in both kingdoms. It stands in the account in 1 Kings 14 of an event recorded more completely in 2 Chronicles 12, with evidence concerning that event found in the temple at Karnak in Africa on the Nile.

The Lord told Ahijah beforehand that the wife of Jeroboam was coming to ask a thing of him for her son because he was sick, and that when she came in she would feign herself to be another woman. By this forewarning God exposed her deception to Ahijah, so that she could not deceive him. Ahijah was aged and blind, yet God guided him and spoke through him. God directed him to deliver judgment against the house of Jeroboam.
