And Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the LORD besides, that we might enquire of him?
Jehoshaphat had rashly promised to join Ahab in war against the Syrians to retake Ramoth, and Ramoth-gilead was one of the old cities of refuge. Despite that promise, before setting out for battle he wanted to know the will of God and seek the Lord's word. He asked Ahab to inquire at the word of the Lord before going forward.
Ahab's four hundred prophets, the false prophets of Samaria, assured victory and said God would deliver the city into the king's hand. Jehoshaphat was not satisfied with that assurance and would not rely on it. In caution he refused to trust counsel he did not trust, asking whether another true prophet of the Lord could be consulted besides these. He insisted that Micaiah the son of Imlah be called, even though Ahab hated him because he prophesied evil and not good concerning him.
