1 Kings 5:7
And it came to pass, when Hiram heard the words of Solomon, that he rejoiced greatly, and said, Blessed be the LORD this day, which hath given unto David a wise son over this great people. And it came to pass, when Hiram heard the words of Solomon, that he rejoiced greatly, and said, Blessed be the LORD this day, which hath given unto David a wise son over this great people.
Solomon had told Hiram of his purpose to build a house for the name of the Lord and had asked for his help with the temple, specifically for cedar from Lebanon cut by Sidonians. Hiram, king of Tyre, when he heard Solomon's words rejoiced greatly and was very glad. He sent his reply to Solomon in writing.
He praised the Lord for giving David a wise son over this great people, Israel. He recognized Solomon as endowed with prudence and understanding to build a house for the Lord. He acknowledged the Lord God of Israel as the maker of heaven and earth. He declared that God had made Solomon king because He loved His people.
He agreed to do all that Solomon desired concerning cedar and fir timber, bringing it down from Lebanon to the sea and conveying it by floats to the appointed place, in return for food for his household.
