1 Kings 7:37

After this manner he made the ten bases: all of them had one casting, one measure, and one size.

The verse belongs to the account of Solomon's reign, which forms the first major division of 1 Kings. It stands within the description of the building and furniture of the temple in the history of the undivided kingdom under Solomon, corresponding to the history given in 2 Chronicles 1 to 9. It records that the ten bases for the temple vessels were made alike, all of one casting, one measure, and one size. Solomon's temple was a permanent enlargement of the tabernacle, whose sanctuary vessels were increased in size and number.

The temple followed the same plan, ministry, and pattern as the tabernacle, having two holy places and sacred vessels of the same kind, as the description of Solomon's temple and its sacred vessels in 1 Kings 7 shows. In this way the temple's construction served as a pattern of the heavenly temple. The verse belongs to the account of the temple's construction and shows the work of its builders, whose special wisdom and skill were given by God.
