1 Samuel 25:15

But the men were very good unto us, and we were not hurt, neither missed we any thing, as long as we were conversant with them, when we were in the fields:

The words belong to the report carried to Abigail after Nabal railed on David's messengers who had come out of the wilderness to salute him. They testify that David and his men had been very good to Nabal's men while they were together in the fields keeping the sheep. They had done them no hurt and let them miss nothing, so that Nabal's servants and flocks were safe and suffered no loss during all the time they were conversant with them. David's men had stood as a wall to them both by night and by day.

The servant set that faithful protection against Nabal's insult to expose its injustice. He pressed the fact upon Abigail that she should know and consider what to do. Evil was determined against Nabal and against all his household.
