1 Samuel 30:17

And David smote them from the twilight even unto the evening of the next day: and there escaped not a man of them, save four hundred young men, which rode upon camels, and fled.

David and his men pressed the fight against the Amalekite raiders from twilight onward through the night and into the following day until evening. The engagement was prolonged and decisive, leaving the enemy force destroyed except for four hundred young Amalekites who escaped by riding away on camels. That complete overthrow fulfilled God's promise to David that he would overtake the raiders and recover all that had been taken.
