1 Samuel 9:20
And as for thine asses that were lost three days ago, set not thy mind on them; for they are found. And on whom is all the desire of Israel? Is it not on thee, and on all thy father’s house? And as for thine asses that were lost three days ago, set not thy mind on them; for they are found. And on whom is all the desire of Israel? Is it not on thee, and on all thy father’s house?
Samuel set Saul's mind at rest about the donkeys that had been lost three days before by assuring him they had been found. He turned Saul's attention away from that lesser errand toward a far greater destiny. All the desire of Israel was resting on Saul and on his father's house, for he was to reign as king over the people. That language expressed the nation's intense interest in having a king of its own. Saul met the hint with modest self-depreciation, pleading the smallness of his tribe and his family.
